There is an explosion of data and computational biology research is struggling to keep pace, despite great recent advances. This talk will cover a few aspects of big data in sequence bioinformatics. We will present some recent large sources of public data, some techniques for exploiting them using cloud computing, and mention the use case of alignment algorithms.
